Dr. Cat is experienced at performing bladder stone removal, mass removal of any size, amputations, perineal urethrostomy (PU), entropion repair, eye removal and lateral ear canal removal, among others. Orthopedic cases and emergency surgeries are referred to specialists (Northlake Veterinary Surgery or Arista Advanced Pet Care).
Every surgical patient is examined before their procedure, and pets over three require pre-anesthetic bloodwork so we know it is safe to proceed. Your pet is closely monitored throughout the procedure. Dr. Cat will go over the procedure, the risks and the cost with you before anything is scheduled, so there are no surprises.
All dogs having surgery must have been examined at our clinic within the last year and be up to date on Rabies, DHPP and Kennel Cough vaccines. Cats must be examined and up to date on Rabies and FVRCP vaccines. This protects your pet and every other animal in the building. If bloodwork is needed, it must be done prior to the day of the procedure.
For orthopedic and emergency surgery cases we refer to specialists we trust, because the right surgeon in the right room is what matters.
Most orthopedic surgery goes to Northlake Veterinary Surgery in Clarkston. Emergency and extensive abdominal procedures go to MedVet or Arista Advanced Pet Care. We would rather send you to the right specialist than take on something that belongs in specialist hands.
American Heritage Animal Hospital performs soft tissue surgery in-house, from routine spays and neuters to more involved procedures like bladder stone removal, mass removals of any size, amputations, entropion repair, PU surgeries and more. If you are not sure whether we can do a particular surgery, call us on 770-972-7026 and ask.
